FerroNATS signs service agreement with Airways New Zealand

The Spanish company will provide training and consultancy services to Airways New Zealand on the courses given to new controllers

FerroNATS, Spain’s leading provider of air traffic control services, recently finalised a service contract with Airways New Zealand under which it will offer its knowledge and experience in the air traffic control sector. The company will provide instructors, examiners and consultancy services for the course of study offered to air traffic controllers promoted by Airways New Zealand at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico (UIPR), which will begin at the end of 2015.

The programme combines theoretical training with practical exercises in simulators on the new controller training campus at UIPR. Besides training and consultancy personnel, FerroNATS will offer those students who pass both the course and the FerroNATS recruitment process an opportunity to access its labour exchange.

The Managing Director of FerroNATS, Gonzalo Cañete, has expressed his “satisfaction at offering our knowledge of the business to the next generation of controllers”. Sharon Cooke, Director of Training for Airways, also expressed her enthusiasm regarding the partnership between the three institutions, “which will no doubt be warmly welcomed by students”, she said. Airways New Zealand is a leading provider of air navigation services at a global level, operates as a public company in New Zealand and manages approximately one million movements per year. Airways also offers training to controllers and engineers, and has exported navigation and consultancy services to over 65 countries.
